What kind of emergency supplies should I keep at home?

If you are planning on going away for an extended period of time, it is important to think ahead and prepare yourself for any eventuality. It might be worth packing some essential items, such as water, food, first aid kits, flashlights, and batteries. This will allow you to feel more prepared, and will increase your confidence that you can survive any situation.

It is a good idea to begin with a basic first aid package. Include antiseptic creams and painkillers, gauze pads. Bandages, scissors, tweezers. Thermometers. Disinfectant wipes. You may also want to include a flashlight for checking what is in your kit during power outages.

A good way to store these items is in a plastic container with a lid. This will keep your items clean and dry.

Another thing to consider is storing a couple of weeks' worth of food. You could even freeze your own food. These meals are quick and easy to make, and you don't need any pans or cooking pots. All you need is hot water.

A solar-powered backup battery system would also be a great idea. This will enable you to charge both your laptop and mobile phones.

Where should I keep my survival gear in?

It's best to keep your survival gear close at hand, so it's easily accessible in case of an emergency. It is easiest to keep your supplies under your mattress or in a closet.

How To

How to preserve food in a survival scenario

The best way to preserve food in a long-term emergency is by drying it. Drying foods removes moisture which makes them last longer. It also decreases the risk of bacteria growth.

Dry fruits are great snacks for emergencies because they don’t require preparation. You can take them with you and eat as many as you wish without worrying about weight gain.

While you can dry fruit at your home using a dehydrator and a sun oven, it's much more convenient to do so in a commercial setting. You can dry almost any food with a solar oven, including meat, fish and vegetables.

When preserving food, it is essential to make sure that the container is airtight. This prevents oxygen entering the container and spoiling it. The container can be sealed tight enough to prevent oxygen from entering the food.

If you do decide to add preservatives, try adding salt first. Salt prevents mold growth. Follow this step with vinegar. Vinegar kills harmful bacteria and prevents mold growth.

First, cut the food into small pieces. You can either use scissors or a knife. Make sure you pack everything well so that no air gets inside the container.

Next, place the food inside a plastic bag. Then seal the bag and place it somewhere warm to dry completely.

After the food is dried, seal it in a container. You must be careful not to allow anything to touch the food.
